Natalie Teeger, nee Davenport, was born into a rich family--her family is the owner of the third most popular toothpaste manufacturer in the world, Davenport Toothpaste. When she married her (now deceased) husband, Mitch Teeger, her family was bitterly disappointed that she decided to marry a "common" man. She had a daughter, Julie, and was blissfully happy with Mitch until his plane was shot down over Kosovo in 1998.

Natalie met Adrian Monk when two men broke into her house, and he came to investigate. His assistant, Sharona, had just left, and he offered her a job as his assistant. The position basically boiled down to being his life assistant, and helping him solve cases once in a while. Seeing as she had no training in nursing, and a daughter to take care of, she initially declined. It wasn't as if she needed another person to take care of! When she saw how kind he was to her daughter and her daughter's fish, Mr. Henry, it helped her to decide to take the job, despite her misgivings.

Natalie has always been a bit of a party girl. Despite being well-mannered and respectful, she's got a wild streak a mile wide, and has gotten in trouble for it. She is a recovering gambling addict. She loves her daughter very much. She's also very stubborn, and while she respects--and even loves--her employer, Adrian Monk, there are times that she just wants to slap him. While it's true that it's hard to work with a man who has OCD--especially to the extent that Mr. Monk (never Adrian!) does--Natalie does her best, despite not having any official training. Working for Mr. Monk is the perfect job for her; she has stated that she cannot stand working the same routine every day.
